El acceso a la Plaza de Molviedro por calle Castelar/Access to the Plaza de Molviedro by Castelar Street
En el siglo XVI esta zona era una laguna (aún hay una placa al final de la calle Castelar, justo a la entrada de la plaza, que pone “Compás de la Laguna”). Durante los siguientes siglos la zona es frecuentada por la “mancebía”, es decir la prostitutas. En el siglo XVIII la zona sufre una remodelación que la lleva a cabo el ingeniero militar Manuel Prudencio Molviedro, que da nombre a la plaza actual. En la plaza se encuentra la Capilla de Nuestra señora del Mayor Dolor, sede de la Hermandad de Jesús Despojado. El lugar es muy tranquilo, con jacarandas que florecen dos veces al año y le dan un color violeta a la plaza, pero durante la Semana Santa se llena de gente porque es uno de los sitios más bonitos de Sevilla para ver procesiones. En el centro de la plaza hay una cruz. En la misma plaza también se encuentra un taller de orfebrería. En la calle Castelar podéis contemplar casas con bellas fachadas y balcones con cristaleras. In the sixteenth century this area was a lagoon (even a plaque at the end of Castelar Street, just at the entrance of the square that says "Compás de la Laguna" (Lagoon street). During the following centuries the area is frequented by the "brothel", ie prostitutes.
