Geocache Description:

Fort Meade Recreation Area is managed by the BLM to protect, preserve and enhance it’s cultural, historic, recreational and wildlife values.

You’ll find a shady picnic and camping area under oak trees just off I-90. There is a nominal fee for camping. Restrooms and water are available. The 100 mile Centennial trail (trail 89) begins on top of Bear Butte and continues south to end in Wind Cave National Park. This short power trail (6 caches)runs along the fence line following the Centennial Trail east of Alkali creek. Enjoy the prairie flora/fauna and views of Bear Butte on foot, bicycle or horseback as you earn some smileys. These hides are all attached to a green treated wooden fence post. Pushing the fencing gently away from the post will allow the container to slide along for easy access. Please replace securely. BYOP (Bring your own pencil to sign the log.)
