Familia Kálnoky este atestată documentar pentru prima dată în anul 1588 ca moșieri de Micloșoara. În anul 1648 Kálnoky István III consemna în jurnalul său ridicarea casei de piatră din Micloșoara.
Clădirea avea planul în forma unui dreptunghi alungit, iar pe laturile sale scurte, dezvoltate pe axul longitudinal sud-est și nord-vest, erau adăugate încăperi în forma unor bastioane. Kálnoky Sámuel I, fiul lui István era cel care a efectuat modificări clădirii în secolul al XVII-lea. Au mai fost și alte modificări însă își păstrează încă aerul de edificiu din renașterea târzie.
Și ce este important este că azi bătrânul castel e mai frumos ca niciodată și astăzi găzduiește Muzeul Vieții Transilvănene!

The Kálnoky family has a documented attestation since 1588 as landlords of Micloșoara. In 1648 Kálnoky István III noted in his journal the construction of the stone mansion in Micloșoara.
The building had an elongated rectangle shape and on the short sides there were some bastion-like rooms. Kálnoky Sámuel I, the son of István modified the house in the 17th century. Other mods done are still visible and inspire the late renaissance style.
Most important, today the castle is more beautiful than ever and hosts the Transylvanian Life Museum!
