This cache is all about Auckland New Zealand. Auckland is set on an Isthmus of North Island. At it’s narrowest point of the isthmus Auckland is only 1.25 miles wide. From an elevated point there you can see the Pacific Ocean, and the Tasmanian Sea. Many tourists and locals make the hike across the isthmus from the ocean to the sea.
Auckland is built on top of a volcanic field. There are approximately 53 Volcanoes in and around Auckland. Some are no longer active. some are asleep, and recently we saw the nearby volcano on White Island irrupt, (So much for that Earth Cache.) Because of this volcanic field, nothing is flat in Auckland. 
Auckland is the National Capital of New Zealand. Auckland has a population of 1.6 million. That’s a little more than 25% of the nations population! It is reported that there are more boats per person in Auckland than anywhere else in the world. Kiwi’s as the citizens are nicknamed are known as adventure junkies. The Sky Tower stands tall and above all else in Auckland. From Sky Tower you can free fall, bungee jump, walk a railless platform, and on special occasions base jump. For those with less adventure you can dine atop or simply take in a commanding view from the observation deck.
In addition to the Sky Tower, Auckland also has the national and natural museum, an art museum and botanical gardens. There are several Maroi (Their Native Citizens) cultural sights too. Auckland also has several cricket and rugby fields as well as several University’s.
Auckland is (a crazy) 18 hours ahead of us (Eastern Standard Time Zone.) Because it is in the Southern Hemisphere its seasons are opposite of ours. Our winter is when they have summer etc.
Close by Auckland and very worth a road trip are the Glow Worm Caves. In the blackest of a cave are billions of glow worms that illuminate like glow sticks. Also worth the road trip is where the Lord of the Rings trilogy Hobbits Village Set was built and filmed. The guided tour even includes a free beer or ginger beer.
