I couldn't fine out anything about the history of the hall other than it was flooded, along with many other properties in the village, in the torrential rainstorms on the evening of June 10th 2019.
A small section of the hall floor was cut away to enable assessors and contractors to assess the extent of the water damage. This revealed there is a considerable amount of water under the present flooring. In addition the Committee Room retained water under the carpet. The hall committee were advised that to take out the water and allow the building to dry out before new flooring is laid the Hall would need to be closed for a period of up to three months.
It is therefore necessary that the Hall is closed from Christmas until the end of March 2020 (and probably now beyond due to covid!) to allow all works, including new interior doors to be completed.
