Come celebrate with us! Today marks the 20th anniversary of our first geocache find. We read an article in the Sacramento Bee about the new sport/activity of geocaching, ordered a Garmin Etrex from Amazon and when it arrived we headed out to a park in town with our 9-year-old and a buddy and went hunting. Our log from that first find:
This was our first family trip (and two families at that) out searching and this was our first find. Ted, Tori and Angela found the box and swapped the stickers and drawing thingie for a stuffed elephant and a Buzz Lightyear figurine. We took a picture of the kids with the find.
If you can't find it at the posted coordinates try N 38° 22.559' W 121° 58.395 - it's about 300 feet to the west.
I think we found it from the description. The fact that we found it 300 feet away must not have discouraged us as we went and found a second one that afternoon.
The park here has a small covered area so we should be good to go even if it is a bit damp out. If you want to sit and visit bring chairs, as there is limited seating. We'll have coffee and donuts to share.
