New Year's Resolution Event 2022 Community Celebration Event

This cache has been archived.

Donnacha: Thanks to everyone for attending the 2022 New Year's Resolution Event and showing up every year. This was the sixteenth edition of the event after a hiatus last year due to COVID. A few familiar faces that couldn't attended this year due to various reasons, hopefully we will see you at the 2023 event. We had a surprise familiar face with dino-irl attending his first event in six and a half years.

Thanks to Lulybelle for supplying her world famous biscuit cake and Sloe Gin, and to Pointerdogg for the new Caches.

Thanks also to Blue Jay & Toffee Man for bringing an outdoor version of the Chatty Cache.

Have a great 2022 and hopefully I will see you somewhere in 2023.

New Year's Resolution Event 2022

Group Photo

When - Saturday January 8th 2022
Where - Rosenallis, Laois.
Time - 9am to 11am

The 2022 New Years Resolution event will take place at Glenbarrow, just outside Rosenallis, Laois.

A slightly different format this year as this will be a Community Celebration Event. The event will start at 9am at the posted coordinates (Glenbarrow Car Park) where we can chat about the Geocaching adventures over the festive season. Even though some of us may have met at the Geocaching Ireland's Community Celebration Event I am sure there still will be much to talk about. As there are picnic tables at GZ bring your own breakfast! And given that it's January wrap up!

Route

Post Event Walk

A walk will take place after the event at 11.00am that is optional and everyone is welcome to join at your own risk. This is not a guided walk. The walk is a loop walk and will be following the Old Mill Loop (red) trail mostly (cutting out a small section at the end) which starts and finishes at the event coordinates. The walk is approximately 10K in length with approximately a few hundred meters accent, and will take around 3.5 hours to complete, including taking in some caches located on the loop. The walk is a mix of forest track and boardwalks. The walk would not be suitable for very young children.

Walking boots are a must on this route as some sections may be muddy and the boardwalk sections may be slippery. It is highly recommended to bring walking sticks for use on the boardwalk sections. We will be out in the open so it is essential to dress appropriately for the conditions and you should have warm clothes, wet gear, water and food with you. It is your own responsibility to ensure you have what you need.
