Due to the continuing COVID pandemic situation and associated restrictions on gatherings, I wasn't planning to hold this annual event this Fall. But the restrictions have been somewhat relaxed recently, allowing us to have a scaled down version. Instead of the usual picnic, it will be more of a meet and greet. All appropriate safety precautions will be in effect, including social distancing and mask wearing. While there won't be the usual shared feast provided, feel free to bring any food and drink you desire for your personal consumption.
The location is the same as previous years, a park located behind the Dumfries-Triangle Fire Station on Rte.1, north of the Quantico Marine Base main gate. The listed coordinates are for the parking entrance on Old Triangle Road, which runs behind the fire station parallel to Rte. 1. The facility is large enough to allow us to gather and still maintain proper distancing. To avoid any possible interference with FD operations, please do not enter from Rte. 1 or park at the station itself. From the south, get off I-95 at exit 150 and bear right on the ramp. Go through the intersection at Rte. 1 toward the base, make the next left onto Fuller Heights Rd, & then the next left on Old Triangle. The entrance is on the left about a mile north. From the north, take exit 152A, Rte. 234 towards Dumfries. Turn right onto Rte. 1, left on Graham Park Rd, & right onto Old Triangle. Entrance will be on the right.
Even though it won't be as festive as previous years, let's do the best we can under difficult circumstances to celebrate. I hope to see many old friends there, and meet some new ones.
