Minnesota Geocaching Sweetcorn Festival

Humanity survived the virus pandemic! Let's get together to celebrate 20 (um, er, 21) years of geocaching. Come join us at Miesville Ravine Regional Park for an OUTDOOR sweetcorn festival.

There are many things to do in the area which includes paddling the Cannon River, cycling the nearby bike trail, and various other unmentionable activities. Plan your day to include one of these activities preceded or followed by a corn festival. Or just come for the corn. Whatever you do just be sure to make it on time before the sweetcorn runs out or the charcoal gets cold.

This event is wheelchair accessible IF you are capable of moving along a packed gravel trail and a small wooden bridge.

What: Sweetcorn festival - a Community Celebration Event

Where: Miesville Ravine Regional Park, N 44° 32.539 W 092° 48.153

When: Saturday August 28th, 2021, noon to 1430

Who: Any geocachers, paddlers, bikers, hikers, golfers, beer drinkers, families, friends, everyone, ALL are welcome!

Schedule:

  • NOON Socializing, picnicking, eating.
  • 1:00 PM: The charcoal will be ready for use. Let the cooking begin.
  • 2:00 PM: Door Prize Drawing. You must be present to win.
  • 2:30 PM: Party's officially over but feel free to hang about.

Event Info:

  • We welcome everyone to join us.
  • Sweetcorn is provided. Please RSVP so we have enough.
  • Bring your own meat to grill. There will be a charcoal grill fired up for you to use.
  • The charcoal grill will be kept HOT until 3:00pm. Do not arrive late expecting to cook your grub.
  • For door prize raffle you MUST be present to win. Grand prize given away first so everyone has the same odds of winning.
  • I'll try to bring paper plates, napkins and utensils but it'd be best if you didn't rely on me and brought your own.
  • Come prepared for "changing" weather.
  • There will NOT be a planned and managed run down the river. But you may see a slew of new caches in the area published at some point prior to the event day.
  • WARNING. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY. IF THE PARKING LOT IS FULL THERE IS ANOTHER LOT 200 feet to the north. Park rangers will not hesitate to provide you with a parking citation.

I am asking for volunteers to bring along CITO bags to help haul out some of the rubbish that we generate as a result of this corn festival.

Please follow all state mandated COVID guidelines whatever that happens to be at the time of the event. Don't do it for me.. do it for those around us that may have health vulnerabilities. This event is outdoors.
