Geocache Description:

17 April 2021, 13:00 - 15:00

20th Birthday of the ACT's Oldest Cache

The ACT's first cache was Canberra Nature Park (GC6CF) and it was published on 15 April 2001....meaning it's now 20 years old.   It's still in position on Mt Painter and as at 8 March 2021 has been found 625 times and has 97 favourite points.   When you consider favourite points were not a part of caching for about the first 10 years or so....that's not a bad effort.

In the past we have celebrated a few of our first cache other birthdays as well.   These have included:

The 8th Birthday Event

GC1PF0J ACT Birthday Event (Event Cache) in Australian Capital Territory, Australia created by Sol de Lune (geocaching.com)

The 9th Birthday Event

GC25MND ACT Birthday Event - (Event Cache) in Australian Capital Territory, Australia created by Sol de lune & The S's (geocaching.com)

The 10th Birthday Event

GC2NMAH ACT Caching Event (Event Cache) in Australian Capital Territory, Australia created by Sol de lune and The S's (geocaching.com) and

The 15th Birthday Event

GC6DTPA ACT Birthday Event - 2016 (Event Cache) in Australian Capital Territory, Australia created by Sol de lune (geocaching.com)

So it makes sense that with this being the 20th Birthday, we do it all again.

This event will be held at the Southern Cross Club, Cnr Catchpole &, Bowman St, Macquarie ACT.  For those who aren't sure, the club is opposite the Jamison Shopping Centre.   (There's been a few events here over the years.)

We will kick things off at 1.00pm for those who might want to come and have lunch.  If you don't want to join in for lunch, simply come along and join all the like minded people to talk all things caching.    The event will officially finish at 3.00pm, however if anyone wants to continue on, that will certainly be an option.

There will be a few door prizes on the day.

If you're interested in attending, please place a watch on the cache page as there will be updates as the event gets closer.

If you're planning on coming in for lunch, please state in your 'Will Attend' log how many there will be in your group so I can advise the club.

COVID19

As COVID19 is still an issue, all cachers attending the event will need to 'check in' at reception using the Check in CBR app.   This is a mandatory requirement and anyone without the app on their phone will need to provide their details to reception in case any contract tracing is required.  Remember, the check in process is a local government requirement and the staff are only doing their job....or in other words, don't have a go at the staff.   If it takes you a couple of minutes to get into the club, so be it.   The capacity of the club at this point in time is 682.

There will be a sign-in sheet at reception for non members of the Southern Cross Club.

Any other questions, feel free to ask away.....
