I have a friend who really likes Thursdays for some reason and let me know. So I thought we could have an event to celebrate Thursdays and some of the interesting things that have happened over the years on a Thursday.
-Thursday is traditionally the fifth day of the week.
-The name Thursday is derived from the Old English Þūnresdæg and the Middle English Thuresday (with loss of -n-, first in northern dialects, from the influence of Old Norse Þorsdagr) meaning “Thor’s Day,” after the Norse God of Thunder and son of Odin, Thor.
-As Jupiter is the Roman equivalent of Thor, the Latin name for Thursday was “lovis Dies,” meaning “Jupiter’s Day.”
-The astrological and astronomical sign of the planet Jupiter is sometimes used to represent Thursday.
-Thursday, Feb. 7, 1963 marked the beginning of a music revolution that we’re still feeling today as The Beatles invade America...quietly with the single “Please Please Me” which sold only 7,310 copies in its first U.S. release
-On Thursday June 20, 1782, the bald eagle was chosen as the official emblem of the United States.

-It was Thursday June 15, 1752 in Philadelphia when Benjamin Franklin preformed the famous experiment known as the Kite Experiment, to prove that lightning and electricity were the same thing.
-On Thursday, Feb. 14 1963, the first satellite to achieved geosynchronous orbit around the earth, Syncom 1, was launched. Unfortunately communications with the satellite were lost soon after, but a silent satellite in geosynchronous orbit is still a satellite in geosynchronous orbit.
-On Thursday August 5, 1993 Magic: The Gathering became the first trading card game produced, and to this day remains the gold standard for card-based wizarding adventures.
-On January 7, 1982, the Commodore 64 was first shown at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It still holds the Guinness World Record for the highest-selling single computer model of all time with an estimated number between 10 and 17 million units sold.
