Almost ten years ago I found my first Geocache in this park, the recently archived Up the Creek (GC3MP0W). And the rest, as they say...
So, what better palce for me to hold an event to celebrate that start of Geocaching worldwide?
While looking at this park, I discovered that when Geocaching began, it was very close to the geographical centre of Sydney. Here is a 2004 article explaining the movement of Sydney's Centre along the Ponds Creek, which flows through this park.
Welcome To The Centre OF Sydney - It's A Creek
The event is on the day AFTER Boxing day - hopefully you'll have recovered from your Chrimas festivities, and not too late so you can get home for (late) dinner. Come for as long or short a time as fits your schedule. And while you're here, feel free to share your first caching experience with everyone. Or just chill. That's fine too.
The coordinates lead to one of a few covered tables, installed while the park was being upgraded earlier this year. If we need to move slightly, or it's raining, I'll post a note closer to the time. There is playground equipment here for the kids, and toilets nearby.
And of course, being central it's not too far for everyone to get here!
