Geocache Description:

Stephen Carver deeded the property in 1919 to J.L. Sprinkle, a school trustee.  In 1922, Sprinkle deeded the property to the Carver school district.

Stone School was built in the front corner of the property in the 1920’s.

The Carver School was built in 1936,after the Stone School burnt down in 1934.

It is one of approximately 40 20th-century school buildings still remaining in the country.

The Carver School had 1st through 8th grade students until 1956, when it was absorbed by Clackamas School District.  The Clackamas School District closed the Carver School in 1985.

The Carver School building is a fine example of the classical Revival architecture, a common style for public buildings in the early years of the 20th century.

The upstairs has 2 large classrooms, and a ¾ all wood gymnasium.   The basement has been reconfigured several times. When it was purchased in 2104, the basement had 2 small rooms; one looked like a library and the other a classroom, the middle of the basement was kitchen and cafeteria. It is 10,000 sq feet.

The school has hosted many different groups over the years. The current owners found ledgers from a variety of groups; women’s red hat society, karate classes, open gym nights, church groups.

When the building was purchased in 2014: it included the school building along with the firehouse they had been permitted as a church. It currently serves as an event center for weddings, gatherings, events, and meetings.
