Puente Europa
“El nuevo puente sobre el Riu Sec", ya es un hecho, tras once meses de obras, a mediados de 2019 se abrió al tráfico. Por fin, se ha puesto en marcha el puente que permite salvar la barrera urbanística que nuestro rio suponía en la zona oeste de la capital de la Plana. De esta manera, se conectan los barrios Crèmor y el Raval Universitari, acercando servicios a ambos lados del rio y teniendo nuevas posibilidades de movilidad.
Ha contado con un presupuesto de algo más de 1,4 millones de euros, los cuales han sido cofinanciados, al 50%, por el Ayuntamiento de Castellón y el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER). Este puente, se enmarca en la Estrategia de Desarrollo Urbano Sostenible, "Edusi-Transforma Castelló", cuyo objetivo es mejorar la ciudad y su accesibilidad.
Se trata de una infraestructura muy esperada, que une la zona oeste de Castellón olvidada durante mucho tiempo por el consorcio, y que además de unir servicios y mejorar la accesibilidad de los vecinos, permitirá la rehabilitación y revitalización de estos barrios de la capital. Enlazando la avenida Alcora con la prolongación de la calle Jesús Martí Martín. Permitiendo acortar desplazamientos y ganar tiempo a quienes se muevan por este distrito urbano, tanto a pie como en coche o bicicleta. Incorpora dos carriles de circulación (uno por cada sentido), un carril bici, un paso peatonal inteligente, zonas ajardinadas, una pérgola para dar sombra, un mirador sobre el rio y una zona de juegos infantiles.
Según fuentes consultadas, el puente, con una infraestructura de 41,5 metros de longitud, 6 de altura y 14,6 de ancho, está asentado sobre tres vigas de 420 toneladas de peso. El proyecto además, incluye la ampliación de la rotonda situada en el cruce de la Avenida Alcora y la Quadra Saboner, pasando a tener un diámetro interior de 24 metros y exterior de 40 metros.

“The new bridge over the Riu Sec", it is already a fact, after eleven months of works, in mid-2019 it was opened to traffic. Finally, the bridge that allows to overcome the urban barrier that our river supposed in the western area of the capital of La Plana has been launched. In this way, the Crèmor and Raval Universitari neighborhoods are connected, bringing services to both sides of the river and having new possibilities of mobility.
It has had a budget of just over 1,4 million euros, which have been co-financed, 50%, by the Castellón City Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This bridge is part of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy, "Edusi-Transforma Castelló", whose objective is to improve the city and its accessibility.
It is a highly anticipated infrastructure, which unites the western area of Castellón, long forgotten by the consortium, and which in addition to uniting services and improving accessibility for residents, will allow the rehabilitation and revitalization of these neighborhoods of the capital.
