This cache is placed at Highlands Hammock State Park
The park is open from 8 am until sunset, 365 days a year.
A state park entrance fee is required.
The indigenous wildlife to the Hammock included deer, turkey, raccoons, bob-tailed wild cats, squirrels, otters, alligators, etc. Due to the fact that hunting had been permitted here for many years, some game had been greatly depleted. By 1930 deer and turkey were rarely seen so the game department released a trio of deer and a brood of turkeys. The deer began to thrive immediately and in the matter of a few years it was estimated that there were 100 deer, a count that seemed too large to stem from that original trio. It was supposed that under the protection of the park other deer had been attracted and added to this increase.
