Geocache Description:

This is placed in the land of the beaver whose scientific name is Castor Castoridae.

Stage is simple enough, an aluminum tag with the coordinates stamped for all to find.  The final is an ammo can that is tied to a tree with a very long piece of black, heavy duty paracord.  There is a five foot loop of paracord which should make it easy to find if the ammo can itself should get buried in the snow.  I have high hopes that it will remain visible and viable for years to come but we all know how that works, hence, the big loop of paracord in case the unthinkable happens.  After all, I find it hard to believe that it every snows in northern Minnesota.

Be aware that I would only check on this in the winter.  During the summer this will be a wet boot, AT BEST, find since the final is a half mile out in the swamp.  The winter also presents problems since the swamp is full of decaying biomass that generates heat and thins the ice.  Be very wary of hoofing it out on the icy ditchbank as the ice is likely to be thin as a result.  Frankly, I would use snowshoes.  Otherwise, any attempt will result in a geocacher sized hole in the ice.

I hope you enjoy the walk, I certainly did.  I saw the requisite chickadees and a raven but only the tracks of coyotes and rabbits.

Also, bonus points if you put a spoiler in your log for the scientific name of the tree to which the final is secured.  This has a difficulty of one so feel free to post all the spoilers and pictures you want.
