Meet & Greet at Republic Square, Belgrade Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Vader&zoon: This was a very little Event, but it has produced a lot. We have met very nice local colleagues and they have helped us nicely during the days we were around. We have even left a cache: GC8M0R8 Saint Sava Cathedral (Hram svetog Save).

During our days in Belgrade we found 34 caches:
16 traditionals
2 multi
10 mysteries
1 virtual
4 earthcaches
1 event

We left 4 Favorite Points, we replaced 4 caches, we had to log 1 DNF and 2 other caches were just inaccesible. We found that some caches were very well maintained, others were not. The reviewer in this area does not seem to take much action when DNF's and NM's (needs maintainance) are logged, and not even when a NA (needs archived) is requested.

All and all we are happy with our trip. We have done and seen a lot, its was well worth coming.

Greetings from the Netherlands!

Geocache Description:

22 February 2020, 16:30 - 17:00

Short Meet & Greet at Republic Square, Belgrade

Vader&zoon from The Netherlands are always keen on meeting fellow cachers (local or visitors), swapping TB's and exchanging idea's and experiences. Therefore we will be organizing another Event, a short Meet & Greet. It will be held at the statue of Pince Mihailo at Republic Square, from 16.30-17.00 (or longer when we are having fun :-)

Prince Michael Obrenović III of Serbia (6 September 1823 – 10 June 1868) was a ruler of Serbia from 1839 to 1842 and again from 1860 to 1868. His first reign ended when he was deposed in 1842, and his second when he was assassinated in 1868. He is considered to be a great reformer and the most enlightened ruler of modern Serbia.[He advocated the idea of a Balkan federatiom against the Ottoman Empire. The statue was erected 1882, made by the Italian sculptor Enrico Pazzi.

Republic Square (Trg Republike) is one of the most central squares in the city of Belgrade. Apart from the statue it is also the site of the National Museum and the National Theatre.

Our coords are not exactly at the statue in order to avoid overlap on the map with the present Earthcache. We will be at the statue though and will be recognizable by the GPS around our neck. We are looking forward to see who will be meeting us! Please bring your Trackables and Woodies!
