Geocache Description:

Gentleman Jack was the local nickname for Anne Lister, who lived at Shibden Hall from 1815 until her death in 1840.  She was never famous in her own time, but her legacy has revealed her to be a remarkable scholar, traveller, businesswoman and property owner.  Anne began writing diaries whilst at school in 1806, and she continued until her death in 1840.  Volumes totalling over five million words survive, along with hundreds of letters, account books and miscellaneous papers.  The Diaries are recognised as a document of global significance by UNESCO for being one of the longest social commentaries ever written. She devised a code which she used to record the more intimate parts of her life. Shibden Hall itself was built in the 15th Century.  Anne Lister inherited it from her Aunt in 1836 and is responsible for much of how the Hall and Park look today.

This short series will take you around Shibden Hall & Park where you can find information boards to learn more about Anne Lister and her home, Shibden Hall.  It can be completed in conjunction with the Gentleman Jack Adventure Labs.

The Park is open all year round - the car parks are Pay & Display.  The Hall is open from the beginning of March until the end of October.

The cache is not at the published coordinates - to find the cache you will need to complete the Adventure Labs.

Once all 5 are done, you will have 5 journal entries.  Look at the first word of each journal - one of them is longer than the other 4.  Take this word and enter it into certitude, all in capitals, to obtain the coordinates and the hint.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

This small series of caches has been placed with permission from Mark Spencer, Park Manager at Shibden, this includes permission for the Adventure Labs.
