Church Micro 13152...Soho - St Patrick
This multi takes you to St Patrick's Catholic Church on Soho Square.
10 Feb 2020: the church is undergoing restoration currently. It is still accessible over weekends. Otherwise (much harder!), there may be other sources to help online. Difficulty rating increased from 2.5 to 3.5 for the time being.
The church is situated in an area where destitute Irish immigrants lived in the late 18th century. It was named after the patron saint of Ireland, and might have been the first church in England to be dedicated so. As at the time of placing of the cache, the church continues to serve the poor with for example Winter night shelter provision for the homeless.
There are a number of plaques inside the church. Three contain answers to the following; and they all lie towards the back of the church (i.e. in the front door half of the church). The church is frequented by people searching for quiet times, when it is open during the day: so it would be helpful if you would not make noise in your reading of the plaques.
A: A plaque was placed in the church by the Peruvian Embassy in 197A.
B: The present church was consecrated in the year 190B.
C: Langton Vere was rector until 192C.
D: Juan Pablo was in Arequipa in 1E4D.
E: Juan Pablo was in London in 1E9D.
F: Edward Norris was rector until 184F.
G: The present church was opened on St Patrick’s Day in the year 189G.
H: How many rectors had the title “Very Rev"?
The final cache is located a short walk away at N051°3A.BCD, W000°0E.FGH. You may need to use tweezers and stealth.
Optional: if you wish, tell us where you usually get your quiet times from in your daily life!
