Geocaching is free. Of course we all know that.
However to get the most out of the game people will usually need to spend a little money here and there.
One of the expenditure lines is for Tools of The Trade aka TOTTs.
There are many of these ranging from things which help you to solve puzzles, project coordinates, or to access a GZ or a cache at a GZ. Some caches can not be accessed without a specific TOTT. And sometimes this requirement is reflected in either or both of the D and T ratings.
This series contains caches which you will probably find easier with one or more TOTTs. Whether it is working out the final location or accessing the cache once there, there will be something where a TOTT will help. But part of the fun is that we won't necessarily tell you in advance which TOTTs you might need. Of course this may not be a problem for the experienced geocacher. But for newer ones some of these might open new windows of opportunities.
This is #05 in the series. It is a Letter Box Hybrid (LBH).
While this entire park is all shared use, Adelaide City Council recommends people do not walk through a paddock with horses in it. They are usually all in only one of the paddocks at any one time. There should always be an empty paddock to use as an alternative path to get to any spot in between paddocks.
We have included two parking options. We used option 1 for the placement of the cache. This allows you to stay outside the horse area fence and walk on the east side of the tennis courts to the ST (Start here) waypoint. From here it is easy enough to go directly to the posted coordinates.
Traditionally LBH caches have a plain language description for the final journey to GZ. Here is one for this cache.
The cache is not at the posted coordinates but you do need to go there.
At the posted coordinates face the front of the "Bush for Life" sign shown in the background image. Just to the left of the sign you will see a path running directly away from you. Follow that path roughly south west (did you bring a compass?) until you are getting close to another fence with an opening. The fence is about 65 metres away from the sign. As you get near the fence the cache should be easily visible to your right within 10 metres or so of the path. It is in plain sight.
Alternately if you prefer to do calculations you can project a waypoint at 243.44 degrees for 57.89 metres. But the path will work.
Ruff_Ruff gave us a self inking stamp to use. It is pink. Please leave it in the cache.
This is not a Park n Grab cache. Once you have located the cache you may need to allow some time to
1: access the cache and
2: access the logbook.
You will need some TOTTs. Choose wisely.
Please note that the outer part of this cache is metal and in total it weighs close to 2 kg. Please do NOT drop it on your (or anyone's) head!
Because we are generous COs we have provided the TOTTs that you may require at GZ once you have the cache in hand. They are in a smller container cable tied to the top (magazine) section of the letterbox. Just remove the cap to access them.
It may take you a few minutes to access the logbook, or perhaps it will take longer?
