Geocache Description:

I was recently staying in Dunedin...Mainly to attend the Opening of the Tuapeka River Dam Track .

However due to unforseen catastrophic weather events, including flooding; the Opening was cancelled .

When the river had subsided somewhat I still managed to try out the walk to the Dam..

In good weather conditions this would be a peaceful riverside walk.

If you go to the end , you will see the 1907 dam built in the historical Gold Rush days   .

Plus on the way you can view the remains of a turbine .

Keep the river to your left...and fence to your right .

Take care ...ELECTRIC fences !

You can pick up a leaflet about this at the nearby Heritage Hub.

Plus for more information : http://www.tuapekamouthferry.co.nz

Track starts at a stile near the Tuapeka Rd Bridge

Geocache is inside a poplar ...Chest height.  Co ords were a bit variable here....
