TWC - The Beer-thieves of Whittlesey

Your name is Sonny Bonds and you are a Detective in the town of Whittlesey.
Recently there have been a spate of robberies in Whittlesey which have been targeting Pubs and Hotels and stealing their supplies of…..yes you guessed it….beer!
The locals have had enough of this and have demanded that the Police do something about this – and this is the case you are investigating today.
The reports from the robberies say that the thieves park their truck outside a Pub, pretending to have run out of petrol, and then after a while (once people stop caring that that they are there and then start going about their own business again) they casually steal the beer kegs from under the Publican’s nose. The only real clue is that every witness said they always carried a green jerry can (to enforce the illusion of needing petrol) – something like the picture below:
Your instinct tells you that if you can find the green jerry can, you will find your beer thieves.
You are sitting in your car out the front of St Andrews Church, on the intersection of Church Street and London Street. You look to the north and see a white van with red stripes on the back - and you immediately feel like something might be suspicious about this van. So you decide to follow the van. As you get closer to the van, it suddenly turns right into a side street. Opposite the side street you notice a sign that reads “Ramsey BWXYZ”. You follow the van into the side street but immediately it speeds off and you lose it – damn!
You continue up the side street and turn down the first street on your right. About halfway down the street you pull up to 2 men working in the front yard on your right (one with his bum in the air!) and decide to speak to them.
“Hey guys, did you see a white van driving down this street? I’m a Detective for the Whittlesey Police Department.”
The younger of the 2 men replies, “Sorry mate, no-one’s been down this road for quite some time. Say, are you trying to catch the beer thieves?”
“Yes” you reply, “I’m not having much luck though.”
The older man then piped in, “Well I’ll be thirsty after work today – so make sure you nail those ratbags!”
“Will do”, you say as you take down some notes about these guys – you can never be too careful. You write down their phone number (01733) FGH JKL, and then you drive off, continuing in the same direction down the street.
At the end of the street, you turn hard left. As you drive up this street you see a lady with her grand-daughter walking towards you. Just before you pass them you see a beautiful wooden front door on your left with the number MN on it. The little girl waves at you and you wave back – Whittlesey is still a friendly town despite some problems with crime.
Continuing up the street, you notice a truck up ahead. Getting closer to the truck you notice it is parked outside a Pub – what the heck??!! Could this be the beer-thieves?! You see some men loading kegs of beer into the truck and decide to investigate. But as you drive closer, the men see you and quickly speed off and you lose them – AGAIN! At least this time you know they either went left or right at the end of London Street, so you decide to go left.
Only about 50 metres down the street you see a man behind his van, fixing a window. At first you wonder if this was the van you were following at the start – but it’s not. You get the man’s attention:
“Excuse me mate, did a truck just drive down this road?”
“No sir”, he replies, “it’s been very quiet here. In fact I can’t remember Whittlesey being this quiet – it used to be busy and thriving. When I started my “Window Doctor” business back in PQRS I didn’t have time to scratch my …”
“Okay, okay, okay, thank you. I really need to go.” you respond rudely - time is running out. Well that could only mean one thing – the truck must have gone down the other road.
You turn your car around and speed back down the road towards the Pub. Veering to the left of the Pub, you drive down this road until you come to the end, and you see a carpark on the left and another carpark on your right. You decide to get out of your car at this point, and just as you do this you see 2 suspicious men running through the gate in the carpark to the right! You chase them through the gate (click just above the red car) and you end up in the carpark of the Falcon Hotel.
You see the men run out onto Paradise Lane and turn left and so you run after them. You find yourself in a dead-end, where did they go?! Looking around the area you see the clue you were hoping for, and you instantly know where they are. The nearest door to this clue has the number T on it, and you bang on the door loudly and shout, “This is Detective Sonny Bonds of the Whittlesey Police Department. Come out with your hands up!”. The sheepish looking men come out of the house willingly, and it is only a matter of hours before they are safely behind bars – much to the delight of the Whittlesey townsfolk. You are literally the toast of the town – congratulations Detective Bonds!
