Interconnected Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

JerseyEric: Decided not to replace the missing container for 2 reasons: (1) It's always been a challenge to find a hiding spot in the desired location near the "new" bridge connecting Bayonet Farm to Bell Works. (2)

It was a pleasure and a thrill to deploy this multi, because it highlights the directional trail signs from my son's Eagle Scout project. For his project, my son had to propose sign locations & content AND order the signs AND get a big group of scouts & adults to install the sign posts and signs.

Bayonet Farm is a special place in Holmdel. I hope the geocachers who attempted this multi enjoyed the trails at Bayonet when they were not too muddy. Cache on!

Geocache Description:

Congrats to the incomparable jimmyg7929 on the FTF!

Warning: This multicache can take at least 45 minutes to complete in the field!

Cedar signs were designed and mounted at 8 spots in the spring of 2019 for a BSA Eagle Scout project. The signs provide better direction on the Bayonet Farm trails and highlight interconnecting trails and points of interest.  You will visit 7 of the 8 spots to answer questions.

The posted co-ordinates are at a Bayonet Farm parking lot next to the Harding House.  I recommend parking here or at the lot by the Red Barn, then walking to the Spot A waypoint (Red Trail trailhead).

Find the physical container with the solution to this field puzzle:

      N 40 21.ABC W 74 D.EFG

Each stage, or waypoint, has a multiple choice question below.  Plug in the number below listed with the correct answer; for example, A=1 (which is not correct!).  The stages, or waypoints, can be done in any order.

The checksum to verify your solution: A + B + C + D + E + F + G = 24

About Bayonet Farm

The trails of Bayonet Farm are a hidden treasure in this Holmdel municipal park.  Despite some muddy sections, the interconnecting Red, Blue, and Yellow trails offer strolls through hidden woods and open fields.

Many don't realize that the trails of Bayonet Farm, primarily its Red Trail, connect to an abundance of other local hiking destinations, including Holmdel Park, the Shaw Arboretum, Longstreet Farm, the Ramanessin Greenway Nature Trail (where people are allowed to go hunting for shark tooth fossils), and Cross Farm Park, which borders a side entrance to Middletown's Thompson Park.
