Questa cache avrebbe dovuto essere pubblicata il 2 maggio 2020 ma a causa delle limitazioni dei movimenti e per maggiore sicurezza esce a tre mesi di distanza.
Il geocaching nasce negli Stati Uniti nel maggio del 2000 a seguito di un atto dell’amministrazione Clinton con cui viene rimossa la Selective Availability, ovvero un sistema di disturbo per i GPS di uso civile che era stata introdotta nel 1991 per volere del Dipartimento della Difesa.
Dalle 00:00 del 2 maggio dunque i GPS civili hanno un margine di errore inferiore ai 10 metri.
Il 3 maggio Dave Ulmer, un consulente informatico di Portland (Oregon), decide di testare la novità legislativa con il suo apparecchio.
Nasconde dunque su una delle colline della sua città un contenitore in plastica nero con all’interno delle videocassette, del software geografico, una fionda, una scatola di fagioli e soprattutto un quaderno e una penna.
Tornato a casa posta un messaggio sul gruppo Usenet sci.geo.satellite-nav dove annuncia di aver nascosto il primo “stash”, alle coordinate

e detta le regole base del suo “gioco”: se prendi qualcosa, metti qualcosa e lascia un segno del tuo passaggio sul logbook.

No! Questa cache non vi chiede di fare un tuffo nel Bitto dalle coordinate di partenza, ovvero sul ponte di San Giovanni!
Lì potreste invece cercare la cache di LOCALHOST GC61FXR e da lì inizia la multi proposta. Per il tuffo si consiglia invece di raggiungere il finale...
Questa zona di Morbegno, detta Seriole, si inoltra infatti nel canyon scavato dal torrente. Qui vi sono i resti di diverse strutture industriali abbandonate e le opere di canalizzazione delle acque che servivano alla produzione dell'energia elettrica oltre che alle varie lavorazioni.
D'estate Morbegno si spopola per il troppo caldo, meglio salire in montagna o andare a cercare refrigerio sul lago di Como. Se proprio non ci si può muovere una buona alternativa è cercare un po' di fresco qui, con la possibilità anche di fare il bagno nelle diverse pozze formate dal Bitto.
Non metterei la mano sul fuoco per la qualità batteriologica dell'acqua, ma insomma, non è che al lago sia meglio.
P.S. le due foto a corredo del listing furono scattate nell'agosto 2009 e sono state cancellate per motivi di privacy le persone presenti.
LA CACHE
START/STAGE 1
Alle coordinate di partenza vi trovate al ponte di San Giovanni dove vigila il transito la Statua di San Giovanni Nepomuceno. Fu scolpita dal ticinese G.B. Adami e si trovava già sul vecchio e più piccolo ponte di epoca antecedente.

STAGE 2
Lasciato il ponte, entrate sotto uno stretto arco in via Seriole. Dopo pochi metri una casa sulla sinistra vi offre un affresco a tema religioso.

There you could instead seek for the LOCALHOST GC61FXR cache and from there the multi starts. For the dip it is recommended to get to the final...
This area of Morbegno, called Seriole, in fact enters the canyon carved by the stream. Here are the remains of several abandoned industrial structures and the water canalization works that were used for the production of electricity as well as for the various processes.
In the summer Morbegno is almost empty due to the hot weather, better to go up the mountains or go to seek refreshment on Lake Como. If you really can't move, a good alternative is to look for a little cool here, with the possibility of swimming in the different pools formed by Bitto.
I would not put a cent on the bacteriological quality of the water, but... you can't say that the lake is better.

At the listed coordinates you are at the San Giovanni bridge where the statue of San Giovanni Nepomuceno watches over the transit. It was sculpted by the swiss artist G.B. Adami and was already on the old and smaller bridge from the previous era.

STAGE 2
After leaving the bridge, enter under a narrow arch in via Seriole. After a few meters a house on the left offers you a religious-themed fresco.
