This cache has been placed with permission, on private land owned by the Otago Tramping and Mountaineering Club, located on Flagstaff hill.
Yes, the view goes a long way, and far in the distance, you can spy "The Gap", a landmark bite out of a ridge above the Waikouaiti River. There is a cache there, now in its 9th year, but only 16 finds, gaze and dream. The "Ultimate Gap" was supposed to be the last in the series, but this view, called out to me for just one more.
Access from the Bull Ring car park on the Flagstaff-Whare Flat road, or you may choose the longer walk up the Pineapple Track from the Wakari Road car park. In each case, you have an uphill walk to get there, and downhill all the way back. Scenic views on a nice day, a grand vista looking south, down the Taieri Plain, or north towards the silver Peaks range.
The cache is a painted sistema box with logbook and pen, located at ground level.
