TWC - The Open Road

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. To obtain the coordinates, solve the puzzle below.

It is good to be out on the road and going one knows not where—
Going through meadow and village, one knows not whither nor why;
Through the grey light drift of the dust, in the thin cool rush of the air,
Under the flying white clouds and the broad blue lift of the sky.

—Masefield

Early roads to the City

In a letter written to London in 1854 describing a journey with horses and cart along the Plenty river, the writer (Mr. Howitt): says:.'This day's jour-ney was the most terrible we have yet had..: It was a country which was either bog or stones. No sooner were we out of a bog that we were bouncing over these great round stones which was hard 'as iron; "protruded from the earth as thick, as plums in a pudding. No one who has not travelled over them can conceive the shock they give to loaded carts, and no sooner were we out of the stones than we were again in bogs which were awful to see. Wherever these had been passable bullock drays had ploughed them up into a frightful state. The only way to achieve a passage was to dash into the tough viscid mud at full speed all shouting to the horses at the same time, a man at each horse's head, flogging and cheering. The loaded carts heaved first this way then that, threatening every moment to' go over or to stick in mud up to the, axles. It took the, party three days to get from Melbourne to the foot of Mt. Disappointment.
