Two FBI agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully work in an unassigned detail of the bureau called the X-Files investigating cases dealing with unexplained paranormal phenomena. Mulder, a true believer, and Scully, a skeptic, perceive their cases from stand points of science and the paranormal.

The X-Files television original series aired from 1993 to 2002 spanning nine seasons, with 202 episodes. A short tenth season consisting of six episodes aired in 2016 with an eleventh season of ten episodes airing in 2018. In addition to the television series, two feature films have been released: The 1998 film The X-Files, which took place as part of the TV series continuity, and the stand-alone film The X-Files: I Want to Believe, released in 2008.
