Oscar Baynard
Oscar Baynard, an accomplished naturalist and taxidermist. In the art of mounting his specimens would toss the offal into the nearby canal and a gator would come and dispose of the remains. So, Oscar made it a practice to whistle when tossing out the entrails. The gator now became affectionately known as Mississippi was trained to come ashore and eat from Oscar’s hand.
Once Oscar was demonstrating the trick to park guests and the gator bit down on the offering and took a bite of Oscar’s fingers.
