Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the Žarko Manjkas Memorial Park - he was the hero of the Homeland War from Dubrava who destroyed 12 enemy tanks. Žarko was only 24 years old when he joined the Croatian Defence Forces unit in Zagreb in September of 1991.

He gained his first wartime experiences during the encirclement of the Borongaj barracks and by that time proved to be an extremely brave soldier. His unit departed for Vukovar in three groups on September 26, traveling for a day and a half. After a few days at Sajmište, the Crvenkapa (Redhat), along with seven other CDF volunteers, was deployed to defend the village of Bogdanovci. They entered the village unnoticed on October 1, 1991 at three o'clock after midnight. A day later, a large and fierce attack ensued and the village was to be occupied and to fall, as did the villages of Marineci and Cerić before it. A lot of tanks entered the village and panic ensued. He destroyed 12 tanks. That's where his legend begins. He took a handheld greande launcher, presumably for the first time in his life, and hit a T84 tank. This was the first destroyed tank in Bogdanovci during the Homeland War. Unfortunately, the brave Redhat lost his life on November 10, 1991, during a breach from Bogdanovci in the "death run". Members of the CDF, Homeguard and the police started a breach with civilians they had picked up from the basement. They were divided from the free territory by a minefield. The soldiers led by Redhat went first. If one was to step on a landmine and be killed, another one would replace him until civilians arrived safely. The Redhat hit a mine, what triggered another one and 11 soldiers in his unit were killed.

In January 2020, his remains were dug out of a mass grave in the Marinci, and were positively identified on 19 February.
