This geocache is a night cache. It is meant to be found when it is dark! You will need to bring a good flashlight and we highly recommend that you do this with someone and have extra flashlights and batteries. It is always safer to go with a caching partner!
This cache is located on the flood plain of the Grand and Flat Rivers and may be unaccessible during times of flooding. The cache is on the North Country Trail, a scenic trail that runs from upstate New York to North Dakota. The trail is not groomed and at times it might be icy, snowy, or muddy. We highly recommend hiking boots and in the summer bring bug spray. A couple of portions of the trail run close to one of the rivers so you may want to hold a child’s hand for their safety.
To do this night cache you will need to go to the posted coords and look for a sign on a post that says North Country Trail. Note the streak of blue paint below the sign! Go around the large object that is in front of you and follow the blue paint along the fence. When you reach the end of the fence, shine your flashlight around while holding it about shoulder high and look for an ORANGE reflective tack. Walk to the tack and then look around for another one. Repeat, repeat, repeat, until you see a triangle of tacks. Stay below (going up could be dangerous), duck under and find the treasure!
To return to your vehicle turn back towards the trail. You will see a WHITE tack. Follow the tacks until you reach the fence and then walk back to the parking area. Hope you had fun!
