The Colo River Grumpy® Power Trail
Hope you're not getting grumpy, there is a long way to go!
The Colo River
The Colo River is a well kept secret mainly known by locals and regular visitors. The river is unique as it is a pristine and wild river on the border of Sydney, only 1.5 hours (65 kms) from the CBD.
The name “Colo” is derived from the aboriginal word for Koala.
The river was one of the first explored following white settlement of Australia and has a long history that is of significance to the local aborigines and the white settlers alike. It is the home of bass and platypus.
The river descends 214 metres over its 86-km course, and is fantastic for canoeing, bushwalking and swimming.
Enjoy!
The Grumpy® puzzle
The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.
This is the fourth puzzle in the series and a D4 Puzzle and hide. Grumpy Mates which later become the start of Grumpy Old Mates (GOM) consisted of 4 cachers who put out four caches for another Grumpy Mate who was having a birthday.
Recently the Geroges River PT was placed and at the time of this cache placement four members of GOM had found caches in the series. We liked this style of caching and foresaw a need for more. So with about four weeks of planning we squared off and made the placements. We did talk about a fore shore launch or a river launch but the conditions favoured the river.
The journey went well but river conditions were up and flowing so we where easily able to travel at 4 knots.
The river conditions did mean a bit of a turbulent ride and times and it looks like our notes got jumbled up for this hide.
