Geocache Description:

After a long day of caching Bethie_Biker, Jimrky and me were heading towards home down one of the wonderful back roads (this one happened to be paved) of the Land Between the Lakes (LBL). As we were cruising along, an historical marker caught my eye. I know there are historical markers in LBL, but for some reason I was not expecting one out here. We turned around and headed back. The marker highlighted the site of the Laurel Springs Iron Furnace. We all looked at each other, is there a cache here? Well no there's not a traditional cache, so we came up with a container and started to place one. Then Bethie called out, there's another plaque over here. This plaque was about Nathan Futrell who was the youngest drummer boy in the Revolutionary War (WOW!), so we decided to place a cache near this location. When you're in the area, stop by and take a read. This is just another example of the rich history of the LBL area.
