Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the headline coordinates. This is an Adventure Lab Bonus Cache. You will have to complete the Adventure Lab https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/ListedLymington 'Listed Lymington' first. Use the Adventure Lab app to download the Adventure using the link, or scan the QR Code below.

Our Adventure Lab will give you the Northings of the final cache location. Visit each waypoint of this bonus cache to gather the information to calculate the Westings of the final location.

You probably know that there are many thousands of listed buildings in the UK, but did you know that other structures can be listed too? This Bonus cache and its associated Adventure Lab will show you just a few of them.

Lymington is a historic town with many Grade II Listed buildings and blue plaques. We originally designed the Adventure Lab as a circular walk of around an hour to point out several historic structures. Due to the 5 stage limitations of an Adventure Lab, in order to produce a nice circular walk, visiting all the interesting places we wanted to include, we have had to split the walk across the Adventure Lab and this bonus cache. This cache continues from the last location of the Adventure Lab, along Church Lane, then up Grove Road to the Quay, and finally, back West along the High Street and to the Car Park.

When a waypoint clue asks for a letter, convert it to a number using A = 1, B = 2, etc.

At the first waypoint, following on from the Adventure Lab: N50 45.320 W001 32.512, you will see the second listed Wavy Wall and a listed lamppost. Within a few metres of the lamppost is a metal plate in the pavement with a distinctive single letter. Convert this letter to a number, and subtract 21 to give answer A.

Continue down Church Lane.

At the second waypoint: N50 45.311 W001 32.461, the corner of Church Lane and Grove Road, is another listed lamppost. Look behind it to find a small concrete marker with three lines of writing. The first line contains three letters. Take the second letter and convert it to a number to give answer E

Begin walking up Grove Road.

At the 3rd waypoint at East Grove: N50 45.396 W001 32.310, you will see a decorative listed gate. Look nearby for a circular manhole cover. Find the numbers and letters: MB?60 to give the answer for F.

Continue along Grove Road, down Nelson Place and then turn left down Quay Road.

At the 4th Waypoint: N50 45.540 W001 32.202 is a listed lamppost. On the opposite side of the road, look for a blue plaque related to the D-Day landings. Find the battalion number of the Essex Regiment which set sail from this river to give the answer for G.

Continue along the Cobbles, which are also a Listed Structure.

The 5th Waypoint: N50 45.546 W001 32.237, is on Quay Hill. Several properties along these cobbles date from the 17th century. Dolphin House (the property with the Tea & Coffee sign) dates back to 1680. How many panes of glass are in the windows on Dolphin House's northwest wall, in front of the iron piping? This gives the answer for C.

Continue along the cobbles, curving West, back to the High Street.

At the 6th waypoint: N50 45.543 W001 32.322, you will find an unusual gold post box. This isn't a listed structure, but on the opposite side of the road, the railings outside Oriel House are listed. The post box was painted gold to commemorate Ben Ainslie's 2012 Olympic Gold Medal for Sailing - Men's Finn. Look for the last digit of the post box number S041 4? to give the answer for H.

From here it is a short walk back to the car park; you will pass the interesting Masonic Lodge, now a tea room.

Calculate:
B=E-G
D=H-F
The Westings of the Final Location are W001 3A.BCD
