The Friends of East Rock Park (FERP) is a local community group that works together with the New Haven Department of Parks and Recreation to help maintain East Rock Park. We often help with trail maintanence, garbage picking, invasive species removal, and organize many other events. On Saturday, March 14th (2020), we will be clearing invasive vines that have grown up and around trees.
At 9 AM, we will meet outside of the East Rock Park - Trowbridge Environmental Center. There, instructions will be given on where to go and how to clear trees of strangling vines. We may also provide buckets and trash bags for clearing out any trash. .
All supplies needed for any park clean-up and maintenance will be provided (gardening gloves, buckets, shovels, garbage pickers, garbage bags, etc.).
Things that you need to bring: water, snacks, bug repellant, sunscreen, suitable bushwacking attire (hiking boots/pants), and of course, yourselves.
* Note: while this CITO event may not be strictly wheelchair accessible, anyone who does require a mobility device will be able to access the park area (College Woods, Picnic area, trails) around the Trowbridge Center and is welcome to attend, even if they may not be able to participate in all CITO activities.
