There once was another night cache here called Nocturnal Pursuit of the Eyes of Alba. The trail on that one went throught a grove of PawPaw Trees and they grow really fast and maintenance was constantly needed. This one should not need much maintenance. There are sections of the route that require navigating fallen trees. Most of this is thanks to The Emerald Ash Borer. This part of the park was an Ash - Maple - Oak Forest.
To begin your journey, , from the end of the weird road that 4x4's are not supposed to drive on, turn left about a hundred feet to Ground Zero and follow the eyes to the Son of Alba. If you have any trouble getting started, the actual trail starts around the 4th eye at a double. Turn left, The eyes trail should be easy to follow as the eyes are fairly close together at first.
One eye = continue generally straight
Two Eyes = a turn is near
Two Eyes moving = likely a deer but be on alert as skunks live here too
Two or more sets of two coming at you quickly = run or stand your ground. Barking like a big dog may help
You should now be on the trail. The eyes from this point on are sporatic. There will be eyes at all confusing points and trail junctions. This one is NOT intended to be tricky, but just a lovely walk in the woods. You can listen for Hooters and other nocturnal creatures if you are quiet.
Just past one of the turns, you be near something that didn't occur naturally (unless you consider teenagers as part of nature). From this point, you will need to project a waypoint 88 feet @ 313 degrees. (note- Make sure to project from your current location, not the icon location) (Garmin GPS units and most smart phone apps do this well. Cachly and CGEO users should have no problem with this. I can't speak for other apps as I do not know the answer to that.) If you see a smiling tree, you can begin your search. If you spot an orange eye just above the ground, you are really getting close. The final is a preform hidden well and contains the North co-ordinates which you wiill need to find the Starting point of THE FORKIN FINAL.
Park Rules.
1. Hours - This area of the park does Not close. It is open 24/7 as long as you are actively recreating as it was described to me by David Chambers (Manager of the Army Corp of Engineers section which all three night caches are in)
2. No Alcohol. You can have all the ROOT BEER you want.
3. Others may be in the woods at night. Hunters or Owl watchers or anyone. They have the right to be here as you do.
Important,After the find, return to the man made object where you projected from (a back Azimuth projection will do the trick if you need it) I added a few extra tacks after the man made object to lead you back to your car. If you don't read this, good luck finding the cache.
4. During hunting season, Please wear High Vis Orange visible from all sides of your body. The more, the safer you will be. This is the law.
