Geocache Description:

The Cathedral of Saint Sava (Храм светог Саве = The Temple of Saint Sava) is a  Serbian Orthodox church dedicated to Saint Sava (1175-1236), the first Archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church and an important figure in medieval Serbia. The cathedral is built on the presumed location of St. Sava's grave. Architectural plans for the impressive building were already drafted in the 19th century, but the construction started only in 1935 and the cathedral was finaly consecrated in 2004.

Saint Sava’s Cathedral is the largest Orthodox Cathedral in the Balkans and is ranked amongst the largest churches in the world (list)

After having visited the church we decided to leave a cache here. Not a straightforward traditional, but a short multi cache in order to enrich the geocache variety in the city. The cache is maintained by local geocachers, for which we are grateful!

This multi cache takes you to some places very near the church, some more information can be found at some places as well. For finding the information and finding the cache one does not need to enter the church, but of course it is highly recommended to take a look inside when the church is open.
