SX20 12 Windmill Wander - Designs
The Windmill Wander series of 14 caches are hidden in the area close to the Clayton Windmills, Jack and Jill, with great views over the South Downs. None of the caches are at their given coordinates, the final coordinates for this one can be found by solving the puzzle below.
Windmills come in three basic designs:
- Post Mills, the earliest type of mill with the whole body of the mill supported off a central post around which it can rotate to face the wind;
- Tower Mills, where the main body of the mill was brick or masonry built and only the top of the mill rotates to face the wind;
- Smock mills, where the main body of the mill was still static but made of lighter materials, such as wood and thatch, cheaper to build and lighter for use in marshy areas.
One of these mill designs will ring more of a bell with this puzzle than the other two.
