Oliver's Bird House Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Oliver737: It seems this cache has fallen fowl (lol) of a flock of local owl watchers, who have accused this cache, with its 1 visit in the past 6 months, of contributing to the decline of the owls of this country. It also seems someone has had a hoot of a time, and recently destroyed the cache. Now, I wouldn't point any fingers (talons?), but I have some suspicions.... Ironic this cache was about birds, huh?
I'll come back with pliers and remove its carcass another day. Oliver isn't too taken aback - Oliver's Bird House #2 will reappear some time, one day.... he might have to don harness to hide it though?

addit- 19/7/21 - cache remains have been removed from the site

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE PUBLISHED COORDINATES

This is Oliver's first cache hide under his account. You'll be looking for a regular sized cache, in full view, as per the cache name... Trying to bushbash direct across from the Fernleigh Track isn't advisable. There is a trailhead waypoint to guide you around to GZ. There is no need for much real bushbashing - tracks will take you to about 30m from the cache, even then it is very light scrub.

Now for the puzzle! It's a birdhouse cache, so here are some birds of course.

Cockatoo
Brolga
Emu
Hooded robin
Jabiru
Crimson rosella
Jacky winter
Azure kingfisher
Eurasian coot
Australian magpie
Dunlin
Currawong
Java sparrow
Cassowary
Elegant parrot

A quick note regarding the 'kid friendly' attribute. This cache involves a walk along formed tracks (some better formed than others) for about 1-1.5km return. Take usual precautions with kids in the bush, and follow the provided waypoints for a hassle free journey.

GPS reception here has proved pretty wild - check the hint if you're struggling, and allow your GPS to settle....
