To Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the existence of Geocaching, there will be a Community Celebration Event in Smyrna's Sharp Springs Natural Park on Saturday, August 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
The event will be two full hours of fun, laughter, door prizes, yummy-socially-distanced-refreshments (AKA cupcakes), and surprises galore. We will have the honor of welcoming two yankees into our midst - before we make them go home; a couple from Massachusetts with family in Asheville, NC and Nashville, TN.
Sharp Springs Park is located on Jefferson Pike (Hwy-264), just east of where Sam Ridley Parkway (Hwy-266) turns and becomes Nissan Dr. (Hwy-102). The event will take place in the Pavillon E, to the right as you enter the park. There is are lots of things to do at the park:
AMENITIES:
† 18-hole Disc Golf
† Baseball/Football/Soccer Practice Fields
† Bird Blinds
† Dog Park (Bark Springs Park)
† Fishing Piers
† Greenway Trail
† Grills
† Outdoor Classroom
† Picnic Tables
† Restrooms
In additon, there are several geocaches in the park, some along the greenway AND... a new Adventure Lab! Talk about fun! But of course, an event hosted by GameForTravel and MadHatter54 will be almost too much fun on its own! Who needs that other stuff... at least between 7:00 and 9:00 on August 7th? ! ?
There's plenty of parking available. One lot is right in front of the pavilion and another at the restrooms at the park entrance. Dogs are welcome to attend but must be on a 6' lease at all times.
We will be following local health regulations: Masks may be required and proper social distancing should be practiced at all times. If there are any changes, Announcements will be posted, resulting in emails to those that have posted a "Will Attend" log.
