Community Celebration Events - 2020 and beyond
This Event is part of a limited release of Community Celebration Events to celebrate 20 years of geocaching. Geocachers hosted events between May 2, 2020 and December 31, 2022. Learn more about Community Celebration Events on the Geocaching Blog.
I chose this weekend because it is close to the 20th anniversary of the nearby "Lost but Not Forgotten" (GC2083) cache published on October 5, 2001. That cache commemorates those we have lost both on September 11 and in our lives. For this event, let us remember those we have lost in our caching lives.
But let us also remember and celebrate the many people we have met over the years both in L.O.S.T. and on our caching adventures.
This is a Community Celebration event. I have reserved the Hawk Point pavilion at Susquehannock State Park. There is parking nearby as well as restrooms. There are some caches in the park, but some require a substantial hike. GC2083 is a short hike from the pavilion.
Bring your own snacks and water if you want them. There are not food options nearby. I will have some snacks, but no cupcakes or drinks.
We may have some games and mixing activities. Who do you miss? What's your favorite caching adventure? There will be a couple of temporary caches to find with a few small goodies. And we will practice getting good coordinates. Mostly, we will enjoy being with the people we have found playing this game.
