Geocache Description:

12 February 2022, 09:00 - 11:00

Let's CELEBRATE!!! But first, how did we get here?

Direct from the Geocaching HELP CENTER:

1.1. The history of Geocaching HQ

With the flip of a switch...

On May 2, 2000, at approximately midnight Greenwich Mean Time, the great blue switch* controlling selective availability was flipped. Twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders, and the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. Now, said the White House, anyone could "precisely pinpoint their location or the location of items (such as game) left behind for later recovery." How right they were.

....and now, 20+ years later, we CELEBRATE our hobby, our obsession...our ADDICTION!

Celebrating Cache/rs and Coffee is about two things:

1. Cache/rs: Celebrating almost 22 years now of GEOCACHING. Where would we be without this hobby? What other things would you be doing right now if we weren't hiking trails, traipsing the desert and meeting with friends? Would you have seen as many COOL things at this point in life without a GPS sending you to out of the way places?  Let's get together and reflect back on our time in this game. STORY TIME!! I'm sure you have some to share.

2. WASHINGTONIANATHEART: Most of my closest caching friends know about WASHINGTONIANHEART. Maybe you've seen her logs on your caches in town from our caching in 2014. I had just gotten her into the hobby when we lost her. But today, we will CELEBRATE what would have been her 25th! Washingtonianatheart LOVED coffee, Seattle and everything that is Washington. Therefore, let's have a cup of coffee (or your other fav breakfast drink) and drink to her.

And like a good Math problem.....Cache/rs + Coffee = GOOD TIMES!

I have several birthday presents to giveaway...and for milestone celebrations such as these, one lucky cacher will have a grand prize of sorts.

Parking is nearby and a paved ramp from the barely graveled lot will lead you to the pavilion. Bring a chair if you like more space, a mask for closer conversations and be ready to have fun. There are 9 caches within close walking distance in and around the park, several of which are less than six months old. Be ready....you might want a 9v with you for this trek. A paved walking path of 1.3 miles lies in front of you with lots of potential for smilies.

February 12, 2022  (02/12/2022) - LOTS of 2s there

9a - 11a MST  - (or whenever we get tired of each other)

**As with everything the last two years, plans are subject to change. Keep an eye open for announcements to this event **
