Geocache Description:

20 August 2022, 18:00 - 20:30

It's Summer on Long Island, Let's have a GoLI Beach Party!

We'll meet near the 9/11 Memorial at Tobay Beach, bring a beach chair, towel and your swimsuit. Or relax & dress cool & casual. Hawaiian shirts suggested!  BYO cooler & drink if you'd like.  The lifeguards are on duty and the band starts playing at 7pm.  The bar serves cold tropical drinks & food too.  And you just might want to get up & dance!

It's also International Geocaching Day. You'll get a souvenir for finding a cache or attending an event on this day, AND Geocaching.com is calling all geocachers to break the record for most explorers out caching or on an adventure in a single day.  This is an ambitious goal! The record they are trying to break has been in place since August 11, 2013!  The current record is 126,833 explorers and it was set on August 11, 2013.  The goal is to break the record on International Geocaching Day, August 20, 2022, which is also the same day as the Geocaching 20th Anniversary Celebration Event and the GoLI Beach Party.

You can help make history by getting out and joining us at Tobay Beach for this event and posting a “Found it!” log for a geocache, completing an Adventure Location, or posting an “Attended” log for any event taking place on that day.  All Geocachers, newbies and “seasoned”, are invited to help us break the record and also to meet other Geocachers, making it a group outing so lots of cachers get out to make finds, or introduce geocaching to a muggle friend. They’ll get to be part of something big with their first find!

There is an admission fee for non-Oyster Bay Town residents, but that ends at 5pm.  Don't come too early and you can avoid the parking fee.

There are seven caches here at Tobay (and a few more down the highway at Jones Beach & Cedar Beach), so if you've needed an excuse to come find them, today's the day!  The 9/11 Memorial is also an Adventure Lab stage.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!
