This lofty site sits on top of the Birmingham Plateau, yet there is still plenty of shelter from wind or sun. Surrounded by rolling countryside, you feel a million miles from the nearby motorway and the hustle of Birmingham.

Back in 2008 we started caching and Forhill Picnic Place has featured a lot in our lives even before we discovered this great Pastime, as we used to bring our Original Geo Dog "Max" here most days for exercise & ball games. Then it's been a base for a number of caching trips over the 14+ years & Cuthie loves a gentle wander around here. Indeed we found the closest cache to the picnic site on Christmas Day 2008 & it is still active today.
So we though what better place to gather to Celebrate this Geocaching Milestone.
There is plenty of parking within the picnic area which is guarded by a Height Restriction Barrier of 6ft 6" / 1.9m, After an initial smooth entry, be prepared for some Lumpy Bumpy Jiggling about !! ask Dadu 13 for further details!
There are also quite a few spaces on either side of the road by the entrance. For those who need it after the event there is a Hostelry opposite which also has a car park, however we would not suggest, encourage or endorse use of the car park whilst attending the event.
Back in 2008 & beyond, events we attended had a great open air feel, so that's what we want to re-create for this one. Hopefully we will make use of the shade of the big tree at the listed co-ords, so please bring a Folding Chair to perch on, plus as Cachers are always PREPARED! a Brolly may be useful - just in case.
In 2008, new caches were not published before or during the Event, the co-ords were provided usually in a random order on Paper Handouts, leading to a flurry of activity as teams entered them in to GPS's, getting together with other attendees & setting off in random directions to start the search, thus leading to a spread of FTF Honours. We hope to replicate this with a selection of New Caches which won't be formally published on GC.Com until the evening of the event day, but a Handout will be Provided once All Expected Attendees have arrived - but not before 11.15am.
**UPDATE 5.7.22 - 7 New caches have been Reviewed & Locked for Publication at 16.00hrs on Event Day - Yes this is After the Event - Laminated Handouts will be Presented to Each Attendee around 11.15am in line with the Theme of the Retro Event.

A Selection of Soft Drinks will be provided & hopefully some Cakes.
Dogs are very Welcome, but we just ask that around the Event Area they are kept on a Lead Please.
There will also be a prize draw, some Goody Bags for those who post a Will Attend & Turn Up, for Others a few small giveaways. So can we ask that you Do Log a Will Attend Rather than just Turn Up so we can Maximise your Enjoyment & Participation & but Please Only Log an Attend if You Do Actually Intend to Come as this will Aid Preparations - Thank You So Much X
