Geocache Description:

Disguised microcache on a junction known as Potter's Clough (see pictures of junction in 1903 and 1920s). Back towards Poynton along Middlewood Road stands a beautiful row of cottages called Worth Clough Cottages. They were built in 1815 by the Bulkeley family, to house miners who worked in the nearby coal pits. Behind the cottages towered a huge sandbank known as Pear Tree Bank (or Petre Bank)- (see picture early 1900s). This bank was used as a tip from the 1950s - 1970s. If you look up Anson Road you can see Worth Cottage (see pic of the cottage from this viewpoint in 1964). Worth Cottage started life as an engine house for Lower Clough Pit and the stream passed under one corner of the building. This pit closed in the 1840s.
