This cache is placed on a small ridge in Comanche Canyon, just above Comanche Trail. Hiking the trail from either end will get you close, then there is just a relatively short and steep bushwhack/hike up to the ridge, which affords wonderful views down canyon and in certain spots provides great views of Comanche Pass and Bosque Peak. Once on the ridgeline there is a decent game trail. Enjoy a well earned lunch break near GZ!
While not particularly dramatic, this is a beautiful and peaceful little canyon (ironic due to the fact that this was one of the routes Comanches took when crossing from the east side of the Manzanos to the west for raiding), and I thought it deserved a cache to get more folks out here. While the trail is not maintained by the forest service anymore, it is in suprisingly great shape, like many west side Manzano trails.
