Line of Sight to Stokenchurch: Terrible Poetry Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Nearly a year after it was last found, I happened to be passing by bike and stopped for a check on it. No sign of either the helpful tool or the cache and so this gets the chop. Thanks for the findings, folks.

Geocache Description:

The given co-ords are a random spot and not useful. Don't go there; there's no need. However, the cache is within 2 miles of this spot and easily accessed from several points. If you plot a location that is anywhere private, you've got something wrong.

This is one of a growing series of puzzle caches started by mykey987, with the common theme being that the final locations offer a direct line of sight view of Stokenchurch Tower; a familiar landmark for miles around on a clear day. And now for the terrible poetry, as promised:

This is the tall tale
Of a flaming rare quail,
And the associated [redacted]
You'll need to explore or hopelessly fail!

Three friends meet up here on the roof,
The mature and wise, the melancholy, and aloof,
The belligerence, brashness and boldness of youth.

They don't have names as far as I know,
But I think of them as Malcolm, Dougal and though
Gender isn't on show, I'll always think of the third as Subo.

They'd have a view, if given to see,
Of telecoms tower modernity.
Let's work out where they be:
I'll give you N51 4-something and W000 54.-something for free.
Now you need A, B, and C,
D, E, F, and finally G.

A is in Pi, but not in Phi, at least none of the first five digits,
And B is German for no,
C's 'not a number' you know,
And D's a golfing cry (they do love their widgets).

Then E is a person of a specified kind,
F is why 9 is afraid of 7 and G is simply nine'd.
However, these aren't Westings mind.

Instead they're rough degrees,
To the tower, if you please,
So get out your maps and get plotting.
You've enough to find the general spotting,
Thus you're not cool, but are slowly hotting.

Now to finally zero in,
you need a magnet on string,
Or a stick or a some other thing.
Take a seat, have a rest, give your mum (if available) a ring.

If you struggle, no word of a lie,
There's a handy tool close by
If you've a good caching eye.
Please return it before saying bye.

Thanks for your time,
Sorry for the terrible rhyme,
Good luck, cache safe*, don't do crime.

Remember, N51° 4A.BCD' W000° 54.???' EFG° to the tower.
(I used mykey987's co-ords for it, but anything close would work with the rough bearing.)

The checker below will only work if you get spot-on. Unlikely with those rough bearings, unless you reverse-engineer the final location with cache-page clues... Getting to the general area and then using the poem will get you to the cache. The clue might be needed at that point, depending on your caching skills.

*Please use hand sanitiser before and after handling the cache and/or tool, and avoid caching with crowds. Caching isn't risk-free, so please protect yourself and others.
