This stretch of road has changed some since relatives lived nearby. They tell the story of the time Interstate 91 took their property. What is left of their road is there, but ends abruptly 'fore the highway. They got compensation but had to move away from Fairlee, where many generations of their family had lived. Some 40 years later I heard the story, which was still tinged with regret. Blamed it on me, and everyone else from away, who was so busy getting places. Had to move all the way to West Fairlee.
