This cache is for the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event, with the intention that it not be sought out until after 8:00 am on Saturday, March 21st.
This is a dry pond and is dry most of the time. During a heavy rain, the dry pond will fill with water very quickly. This prevents the system from becoming overwhelmed, avoiding water backups into basements or flooding into houses, garages or businesses.
Almost all the dry ponds have ultrasonic sensors that record water depths. The sensors also inform the City when the ponds are filling with water.
