Geocache Description:


Furnace is a small village on the west shore of Loch Fyne, around 8 miles south of Inveraray. Originally named Inverleacainn, the village took its name from the iron smelting works built here in 1755. Today you can visit the old iron furnace as well as a gunpowder works, built in 1841.Straight across from the cache site is the start of the leacainn walk which is 5 1/2 miles long in a big loop it takes you past the old village of auchindrain which is a museum now and well worth a.visit .the walk is a little wet in places so hiking boot are a must but the path is clearly posted and easy to follow.it brings you back into the village about 100 meteres from the small shop.The cache is on the main road heading through the village there is a quarry further down so there can be a few.lorries and cars etc passing by so stealth is a must when looking for this one the cache container is a micro magnetic and.there is.no need to leave.the pavement  to retrieve this one good luck and happy geocaching....
