Geocache Description:

Hey there  Im Ranger 13. Good to meet ya,

If you’ve made it this far; I bet you’re wonder’n about that “thing” people say they keep see’n they woods. Now I know that sounds plenty strange, but from what I can gather; it’s a gentle beast. It likes to keep to its self and not make a fuss.

Now let me tell ya; we’ve been getting these kinda reports since 1981!!! Im not much for technology, but you can actually check out the first sighting here at the park on that'uhh Youtube website. Ive been a Park Ranger out here for thirteen years and I haven’t seen it yet…..but I know it’s out there! They say it’s big, covered in fur and smells skunk! It walks on two feet like me and you, but it doesn’t make sound as it strides through the woods.  Now Im bet’n you’re the adventurous type and you want to see it for yourself....Well

Stick to the Deer Island Trail. Stay on it for as long as you can until you’ve got a straight shot West to its last know coordinates.

There’s going to be some bush whacking, so look out for snakes, poison ivy, ticks, skunk apes, skeeters, spiders and thorny vines. Watch you step!

Oh and try not to scare it too bad if you see it. It my look mean but it’s probably more scared of you than you are of it! I here it loves trackables and you can gain it's trust with something called Swag.

Note: NorthWest River Park is opened from sun rise to sunset. Please make note of park closing times and follow posted parks rules.
